Spectrum sent a proposal on May 1, 2025 for Canyon South 1 to buy services in bulk for all homeowners in a five-year contract. The services include Spectrum’s fastest internet (1 Gig) and Spectrum TV Stream for $46 per month per unit, which includes taxes, fees and equipment. The cost would be included in our HOA fee. The contact allows an annual increase not to exceed 3 percent per year, with the first increase expected January 2027. Our HOA would receive a $200 incentive per unit or $13,600 upon signing the contract, which could be used to offset future HOA increases.
This proposal includes a modem/router and up to three Zumo Stream Box(es) per unit to replace cable TV. Spectrum TV Stream is basic programming with no local channels. Compare the channel lineups here. Residents are welcome to upgrade or add programming at their own expense. Spectrum would handle billing adjustments to remove current internet charges from individuals’ bills and provide pricing for upgrades such as DVR, local channels, movie stations and landline phones. The contract’s main advantage is that it would save us money for internet and offer increased speed. Spectrum offers a Xumo Stream box, intended to replicate cable TV interface. In addition, the Spectrum TV Stream app can be downloaded to smart TV’s, smart phones, Roku, Apple TV, Kindle Fire, computers, and tablets and watched from anywhere.
Examples from two of our homeowners’ bills:
- The first resident is paying Spectrum $301.70/month. If they pay $46/month through the HOA, based on what they currently have Spectrum suggests they would likely upgrade to Select Plus + Entertainment and Sports for about $120/month and keep home phone service for $22.99, putting them at about $189/month, an estimated savings of $112/month. They could save more if they choose a lesser TV package once they review the available streaming channel lineup.
- The second resident is paying $91.24/month. With the bulk rate, they’d receive Spectrum’s highest internet speed, TV Stream, and 3 Xumo boxes for $46/month, saving $45.24/month and getting more than they currently have.
